Guest at the cliff-edge infinity pool at Jungle Edge overlooking the misty Wayanad hills

Guide · Infinity Pools · Wayanad

The best infinity pool resorts in Wayanad, honestly ranked.

An infinity pool over a Wayanad valley is one of those views that stays with you. This is a local's shortlist — the resorts whose pools we'd actually recommend to friends, plus notes on when the light is best and what to pack for a cool-water dip at 900 metres.

What sets this stay apart

Cliff-edge pools with real views

Only the resorts where the pool actually reads as infinity — the water meeting sky, not a hedge.

Season-by-season notes

When each pool looks its best, when it's too cold, and when to expect monsoon closures.

Who each pool suits

Families, couples, photographers — the pool that fits the trip, not just the brochure.

Local, not sponsored

We run a resort here; we've stayed at or visited every property on this list.

Jungle Edge — hilltop infinity pool near Banasura Sagar Dam

Our own pool sits on the highest point of the property, cantilevered so the water spills toward the reservoir horizon. On a clear morning you can see the ridgeline all the way to Banasura Sagar Dam. It's small by design — 16 metres — because we wanted a swim, not a scene.

Best in the golden hour (5:00–6:15 PM Oct–Feb). Mulled cider and hot pakoras come out at sunset. It's reserved for in-house guests only, so it never turns into a crowd.

Vythiri Village Resort — long lap pool over the canopy

One of the older luxury properties in Wayanad, with a large pool that reads infinity from the deck chairs. The setting is dense evergreen forest — the pool feels tucked into the trees rather than perched above them. Good for families; there's a shallow section for kids.

Season note: monsoon closures are common in July when leaf fall clogs the filter. Ask before booking a rain-month stay.

Banasura Hill Resort — the valley pool everyone posts

The pool most people picture when they Google 'infinity pool Wayanad'. It's genuinely stunning — a long rectangle at the edge of a plateau with the Banasura hills as the backdrop. It gets busy at sunset, so aim for 3 PM or a sunrise swim if you want the view to yourself.

Suits couples and photographers most. Not the quietest option for a nap-by-the-pool afternoon.

Wayanad Wild — Rainforest Lodge (CGH Earth)

Smaller, more intimate, with a pool built into a rainforest clearing at Kuruchiat. It's not the most dramatic infinity edge on this list, but the ecosystem around it — the shola forest, the birdlife at dawn — is the reason to go.

Best for guests who want the trip to feel more retreat than resort. Adults preferred.

Grand Serenaa — value pick with a big view

A newer entrant that punches above its price with a well-sited infinity pool overlooking terraced tea. It doesn't have the pedigree of the older properties, but the pool itself is honestly one of the best-framed we've seen recently.

Best in dry season. Service can be uneven in peak weekends.

How to choose the right pool for your trip

For a honeymoon or anniversary: prioritise privacy and small crowds — Jungle Edge or Wayanad Wild. For a family stay with kids who want to actually swim: Vythiri Village. For the postcard photo: Banasura Hill at sunrise. For a short weekend: pick the pool closest to the drive-in from your route — the region is spread out.

One tip: check pool orientation. West-facing pools give you sunset colour in the water; east-facing ones catch the misty morning light. Both are beautiful — but they're different trips.
